Elon Musk’s SpaceX may be the buzziest name in private space exploration, but the Tesla CEO isn’t the only super-rich entrepreneur with grand visions for humanity’s future beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

The Amazon founder and fellow billionaire, Jeff Bezos, has his own space firm — Blue Origin. He flew on the company’s human manned flight to the edge of space in 2021, launching 62 miles above the Earth’s surface aboard its New Shepard rocket.

Richard Branson, whose Virgin Group dabbles in everything from airlines to healthcare, launched a commercial-spaceflight company of his own called Virgin Galactic. In 2021, he went up on one of his company’s rocket-powered planes, fulfilling a decades-long dream of traveling to space.

These three companies were all founded within a few years of one another in the early 2000s, but each has its own business model and plans for future space ventures.

But they are not the only way to play this market…

In fact, on August 29th, 2022, Maritime Launch (NEO: MAXQ) (OTCQB: MAXQF) announced that the company has satisfied the conditions related to the approval and construction of the only dedicated planned commercial launch Spaceport in North America. (2)(6)

Most of the world’s spaceports are government-owned, and thus prioritize defense and federal use. As the global space economy shifts, Nova Scotia’s commercial launches will make the site not only a Canadian first, but a premiere destination worldwide.

A world-class facility in Nova Scotia will place Canada among a small group of countries with launch capabilities.

Maritime Launch (NEO: MAXQ) (OTCQB: MAXQF) considered thirteen other possible locations across North America. By far, Maritime’s location near Canso, Nova Scotia is the safest and most globally competitive location for Canada’s first commercial spaceport.

It’s nearly impossible to find a more ideal range of launch inclinations in North America than in Nova Scotia. The region is clear from obstructions or hazards, on the edge of the ocean, and an easy rallying point for transportation, resources, and clients.

Spaceport Nova Scotia is taking shape to serve the world. Maritime Launch has finalized the engineering and design of its world-class facility, in compliance with the environmental assessment approved by Nova Scotia’s Department of Environment and Climate Change. With clients representing over $1 billion in prospective launches, it’s an exciting time. (13)

As the only dedicated commercial launch site in North America, Maritime Launch will offer the largest range of launch inclinations on the continent and a reliable, technically mature launch vehicle capable of carrying up to five tons of cargo to low earth orbit.

The satellites placed by Maritime Launch (NEO: MAXQ) (OTCQB: MAXQF) will lead the world in environmental monitoring, earth observation, imaging, broadband, and telecommunications.

New and established companies are fueling the growth and demand as they look to transition to Low-Earth Orbit constellations…

Maritime Launch to Begin Construction of Spaceport

The space economy has seen explosive growth in recent years. Trips are planned for the moon and Mars, more private companies than ever have joined in a new space race, and the public’s imagination has been reignited with the recent release of stunning images from the James Webb Space Telescope. (11)

NASA and industry partners such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Jacobs are preparing for a launch of their Artemis 1 mission on the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, showing the importance of public-private partnerships and bringing mankind one step closer to the reality of space as an integral part of life. (11)

Several things have captured the imagination of people over the years…

Going all the way back to the U.S. moon landings, images of planets in the solar system from the Voyager spacecraft, images of distant galaxies from the Hubble telescope and — now the James Webb telescope— and watching in near real-time as the Mars Rover explored the surface of the Red Planet. People can actually imagine worlds beyond ours. (11)

This, coupled with tremendous growth in private space companies, who are pushing the boundaries on what we thought was possible – Like reusable rockets, commercial space stations, hotels in space, and trips to the moon and Mars — all of these activities have renewed public excitement and interest in space.(11)

The commercial space services sector is a booming business. According to the 2022/Q2 Space Report, the $469 billion space economy grew at a brisk 9% clip from 2020. (10)

Most of the money generated by the space industry came in the commercial sector, which saw a 6.4% boost in revenues, with more than $224 billion coming from products and services delivered by space firms and nearly $138 billion spent on infrastructure and support for commercial space enterprises. (10)

And this is where Maritime Launch (NEO: MAXQ) (OTCQB: MAXQF) comes in.

Is Maritime Launch Ready For “TakeOff”?

Maritime Launch (NEO: MAXQ) (OTCQB: MAXQF) has clients representing over $1 billion in prospective launches. (21)

Maritime will partner with Reaction Dynamics for an inaugural flight launch from Spaceport Nova Scotia in 2023. (14)

This partnership will advance the continuing plan to bring medium class launch capability to Nova Scotia to meet growing satellite constellation market needs. (14)

A first suborbital launch from Spaceport Nova Scotia using Reaction Dynamic’s small class launch vehicle Aurora and its advanced hybrid technology is planned for the summer of 2023. (14)

Reaction Dynamics is a Quebec-based aerospace company that is developing Canada’s first small-and medium-sized launch vehicles using clean technology that will place small satellites into low earth orbit (LEO) at a competitive price. (14)

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Reaction Dynamics for a series of launches starting with a demonstration launch in 2023” said Stephen Matier, President and CEO, Maritime Launch Services. (14)

Reaction Dynamics is the ultimate reflection of Canadian space innovation and their environmental and service delivery goals are completely aligned with Maritime Launch. Reaction Dynamics is developing launch vehicles with a unique, green fuel technology to offer to our satellite clients at a competitive cost. We are striving to build a carbon neutral spaceport that will offer clients a competitive price to launch with access to the widest range of inclinations offered in North America.(14)

Aurora will be the first hybrid rocket to reach orbit. Leveraging Reaction Dynamic’s patent-pending propulsion system, Aurora will meet the performance and combustion duration required for an orbital launch, while being more affordable, safer and cleaner than traditionally used liquid-fueled rocket engines. (15)

Aurora’s fuel is solid and non-toxic, eliminating the risk of pollutant release in the event of a hazard or emergency. Its liquid oxidizer decomposes rapidly and is therefore environmentally safe. The result is a rocket that enables cost-effective and safe launches. (15)

Upper Stage

The upper stage uses a single hybrid engine, optimized for vacuum flight. Both stages of the vehicle use the same rocket engine, introducing commonality to reduce cost and manufacturing complexity. The upper stage can place smallsat payloads directly into their target orbit, meeting a wide range of mission profiles. (15)

argusjournal

Booster Stage

The booster stage is the workhorse of the vehicle, using 9 of our hybrid engines to loft Aurora out of the atmosphere. Each engine will produce 21.6 kilonewtons of thrust upon liftoff. The booster utilizes extraordinarily light carbon-composite tanks designed in-house by our structures team to store our liquid oxidizer. (15)(15)

The Leading Commercial Payload Provider

Maritime Launch (NEO: MAXQ) (OTCQB: MAXQF) will partner with Nanoracks, a Voyager Space company and the leading commercial payload provider to the International Space Station (ISS). For this first mission, Nanoracks will deploy customer SmallSats at Maritime Launch’s commercial spaceport. (17)

Nanoracks is currently engaged with Canada’s small satellite efforts. The company provides satellite deployment services from the ISS for the Canadian Space Agency’s Canadian CubeSat Project (CCP).

“The team at Nanoracks is excited to partner with Maritime Launch to accelerate the growing space ecosystem in Canada,” says Jeffrey Manber, President of International and Space Stations, Voyager Space, and Co-Founder of Nanoracks.

“Spaceport Nova Scotia represents a globally competitive location for launch, while the Cyclone-4M is a descendant of perhaps the most reliable launch vehicle ever built. Our work with CSA has shown us the breadth of expertise and interest across the country. This mission with Maritime Launch will provide an opportunity for Canadian companies and universities to access orbit onboard a domestic launch vehicle, developing key technologies while showing the value of international partnerships.”

Maritime's Launch Vehicles

Maritime’s chosen vehicle manufacturers design and build for low-earth orbit single spacecraft or constellation satellite missions, all customizable for commercial applications and mission-tested for confidence. (16)

Maritime will offer lift capacity for Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). Their key partners Yuzhnoye and Yuzhmash, build an ideal medium-class Cyclone-4M, with a 5-ton satellite payload capacity and 4-meter fairing. (16)
