China based leading autonomous driving company Weride Corp. announced that it will be launching robotaxis available for public booking on the Ontime ride-hailing app come next year. Ontime ride-hailing is owned by Chinese automobile manufacturer Guangzhou Automobile Group. (HKG: 2238).
In a public statement, WeRide says it’s putting measures into place to begin offering test rides for the public at the Guangzhou Auto show which is slated to start on November 19 in the southern Chinese city.
The company points out that it has been advancing the Ontime ride-hailing app and they are currently testing if the integration is working smoothly.
Automobile manufacturers have been making major investments and partnerships with technology companies with an aim of having an early lead when it comes to autonomous cars which together with electric seem to be the future of automotive industry especially this time when countries are pushing for greener energies in the sector.
