World Bank to Offer $900 Million for Development Projects in Eastern Congo

The World Bank has signed two funding conventions with Congo amounting to $900 million according to which will be used by to boost female entrepreneurship and access to water and electricity in the east and west of the country.

These operations supplement a portfolio of operations focused on reinforcing human capital and protecting the poorest households including women against socio-economic hazards,” said World Bank Congo Director.

The director further says that the projects will focus on Congo’s central west Kasai province and eastern regions.

This deal was inked following a two day visit to Congo by the World Bank’s strategy and operations director for East and Central Africa, Humberto Lopez.
