Apple Seeking to Ramp Up Production Outside China

American technology company specializing in consumer electronics, software and online services Apple Inc. (AAPL) has informed some of its contract manufacturers that it seeks to scale up production outside China.

This development was first published on the Wall Street Journal which claimed to have sourced the information from sources with direct involvement in the matter.

According to the sources, India and Vietnam in which Apple already has existing production sites are among the list of countries the iPhone manufacturer is highly considering as alternatives to China.

In recent months, China has been experiencing a new wave of coronavirus infections this has resulted to fresh lockdowns and movement restrictions which have been affecting global supply chain considering China is a global supplier.

The article by WSJ says Apple attributes China’s strict anti-Covid 19 policy as the main reason to why it decided to take this move.
