American independent investment bank and financial service provider Jefferies Financial Group Inc. (JEF) announced that the Instagram account for its Chief Executive Officer Rich Handler had been hacked. This incidence took place during the past weekend.
“Any stories related to discounted sales of shares, crypto donations or donations to Ukraine that appear on that hacked Instagram account are categorically false,” said the bank.
The bank confirmed that it has reached Meta Platforms Inc. (FB) on the matter and that plans are underway to recover control of the social media account.
The chief executive officer is a very active user of the social media platform, more often than not, he uses his Instagram account to post updates on the company’s return to work polices in the past and also measures which the bank had undertaken to contain spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
