Megan Markle’s Animated Series ‘Pearl’ Dropped by Netflix

Subscription streaming service and production company Netflix Inc. (NFLX) has dropped Markle’s family animated series ‘Pearl’ after reviewing its animated content. In a press statement, the company said it dropped several projects including Pearl as part of its strategic decisions on production of animated series.

Two animated children’s series ‘Dino Daycare’ and ‘Boons and Curses’ were also dropped by Netflix. This move comes less than two weeks after the company announced having lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter, this was the first time in a decade the company registered drop in the number of subscribers.

On the contrary, Netflix was expecting to add 2.5 million new subscribers in the first quarter.

The company says it will continue to work on projects with Archewell, including the previously announced documentary series ‘Heart of Invictus’ which will focus on athletes competing in the Invictus Games for injures veterans in The Hague in 2022.

Markle and her husband Prince Harry formed a production company, Archewell Productions which last year revealed that Markle would be an executive producer of Pearl. The animated series would be revolving around the adventures of a 12-year old girl who is inspired by influential women from history.
