Bezos Wants to Know if Musk Buying Twitter Will Change its China Content Policy

World’s second richest person Jeff Bezos wants if Twitter Inc. (TWTR) will change its china content policy following purchase of the company by the world’s richest man Elon Musk who bought the company for a jaw dropping $44 billion cash deal.

Currently, Twitter is blocked in China where Musk has key business presence including a gigafactory in Shanghai for his electric vehicle manufacturing company Tesla Inc. (TSLA). Through a twitter post, Bezos asked if the buyout gives China a bit of leverage over the town square.

Did the Chinese government just gain a bit of leverage over the town square?” tweeted Bezos.

Following Musk’s purchase of the widely used social media and micro-blogging website, political activists expect that Twitter will change its policies when it comes to free speech and restore banned accounts including that of former United States President Donald Trump.

Musk who is always active on Twitter, replied to the tweet from Bezos suggesting that this deal will have no impact on the ban of twitter in China.

“My own answer to this question is probably not. The more likely outcome in this regard is complexity in China for Tesla, rather than censorship at Twitter. I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means,” replied Musk.
