Volkswagen China Says Its Factories in Changchun Have Resumed Production

Car manufacturer Volkswagen Group China says that its plants in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun have gradually resumed production since the city has been slowly easing the measures put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The company which runs through a joint venture with China based auto maker FAW Group made this announcement on April 18.

Nonetheless, Volkswagen said that its still studying the feasibility of resuming production activities at its factory in Shanghai which it manages through a joint venture with Chinese state owned car manufacturer SAIC Motor Corp. (SS: 600104).

The previous day, SAIC Motor revealed it was carrying out stress tests in lieu of resuming activities at its plants  in the locked down Chinese financial hub.
