Rene Haas Appointed the CEO of Chip Designer Arm

Chip and software design company Arm Ltd has appointed Rene Haas as its chief executive officer and a member of board with immediate effect starting from February 8. The company made this announcement on Feb 8.

Arm is owned by Japanese SoftBank Group Corp. (TYO: 9984). Masayoshi Son, chairman and CEO of SoftBank acknowledges Rene as a great leader who possesses the ability to accelerate the company’s growth at a time when Arm is considering hitting the stock market.

A few months ago, Arms which has its headquarters in Cambridge received a takeover deal from U.S based technology and chip maker Nvidia Corp. (NVIDA). Nvidia was offering to pay $12 billion in cash and $22.5 billion worth of its stock for the British chip designer.

The deal also included an extra $2 billion which will be paid immediately after contract has been signed.
