ABB Secures Orders Worth $80 Million for Spanish Commuter Train Tech

Sweden based company engaging in robotics, power, heavy electrical equipment and automation technologies ABB Ltd. (SWX: ABBN) has secured orders worth $80 million from manufacturer of railway rolling stock Stadler Rail (SWX: SRAIL) for traction and battery technologies for commuter trains in Spain.

Stadler focuses on regional multiple units and trams. The company has its headquarters in Bussnang, Switzerland.

These orders include compact traction converters and high-power lithium-ion battery to power 59-decker commuter trains for Renfe, a rail operator owned by the government of Spain.

ABB says these orders were booked in the fourth quarter of 2021 ending December 31, 2021.
