Amazon to Create 1,500 Apprenticeships Positions in the UK This Year

Leading online retailer Amazon Inc. (AMZN) will be creating 1,500 apprenticeships positions in the UK this year. The company made this announcement on February 2.

Amazon says it will be offering 40 entries to degree level apprenticeship schemes which will include new schemes in areas including retailing, social and corporate governance (ESG), marketing and publishing.

Initially, Amazon had announced that it will be creating 10,000 roles in 2021 aiming to close the year with a 55,000 permanent employees in the UK. The company says it grew its permanent labor force in UK by 25,000 in 2021 bringing the total number of employees to 70,000.

Last year the company recruited an extra 15,000 for its fulfillment centers, sort centers and delivery stations across the UK as well for corporate and research and development functions.

Amazon claims it has invested 32 billion pounds ($43.3 billion) across the UK since 2010, however, the company says that it’s yet to breakdown that investment.
