Twitter Introduces Feature Allowing Users to Flag Misleading Posts

Micro blogging and social media platform Twitter Inc. (TWTR) has introduced a new feature which allows users to flag tweets which contain misleading information on its social media platform to Spain, Brazil and Philippines.

The company unveiled the pilot test for this feature back in August last year as part of its efforts of minimizing spread of misinformation across its platform. The pilot test was first conducted in United States, Australia and South Korea.

Since inception of this feature, Twitter says it has received almost 3 million reports from users who have used it to flag tweets which they considered are in direct violation with the policies of the company.

Last year, the company launched another program dubbed ‘Birdwatch’ which allows participants to write notes and provide extra context to misleading tweets, though those notes are held on a separate website.
