Microblogging and social networking platform Twitter Inc. (TWTR) announced having permanently banned the personal account of U.S representative for Georgia Marjorie Taylor Greene, @mtgreenee, for violating the company’s policies on misinformation about COVID-19.
Not long ago, Twitter had issued a short-term suspension on Greene’s account due to tweets she had posted about COVID-19 which Twitter deems as misleading in the public eye. Following the permanent ban, Greene took on heavily encrypted messaging platform Telegram to express her disappointment with the move.
“Twitter is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth. Social media platforms can’t stop the truth from being spread far and wide. Big Tech can’t stop the truth. Communist Democrats can’t stop the truth,” posted Greene on Telegram.
Nonetheless, her official Twitter account @ReptMTG still remains active on the platform with 390,000 followers, on the other hand, her personal banned account had 465,000 followers. Some months ago, Greene had to apologize for comparing vaccinations and COVID-19 mask mandate to the Holocaust which killed over 6 million Jews.
