Jidu Auto to Begin Mass Production of its Robot Electric Vehicle in 2023

Jidu Auto an electric vehicle joint venture of Chinese technology company specializing in internet and artificial intelligence Baidu Inc. (HKG: 9888) and china based automotive manufacturer Geely Automobile Holding (HKG: 0175) says that it will start mass production of its ‘robot’ electric vehicles in 2023.

This announcement was made by the company’s chief executive officer, Robin Li, during Baidu’s annual developers’ conference held this week.

According to the CEO, the company will be manufacturing electric vehicles that are of the autonomous level-four. At this level, the autonomous vehicle needs no intervention of a physical human driver.

The automotive sector has been gearing up for electric vehicles and other forms of energy which do not produce emissions which damage the environment. Many automobile makers are on the move trying to have an early lead in manufacturing of electric vehicles and autonomous cars.
