American billionaire Elon Musk will be paying more taxes than any other American in history this year. The founder and chief executive officer of leading electric car maker Tesla Inc. (TSLA) made this revelation following an altercation on Twitter with Democratic U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren.
Back last week, after Time Magazine announced Musk as the 2021 ‘Person of the Year’, Senator Warren took on Twitter to claim that Elon Musk should pay taxes and stop freeloading everyone else.
This year will always remain dear to Tesla as it is the year when the company reached the $1 trillion mark in terms of market valuation making Elon Musk the world’s richest person.
In his response to the tweet by Senator Warren, Musk says that he will be paying over $11 billion in taxes this year. A few weeks ago Musk ran a poll on twitter asking his followers whether he should sell some part of his Tesla stock to pay taxes.
Since then, Musk has sold almost $14 billion worth of his Tesla stake.
