Honda Requests Parts Suppliers to Cut Down Carbon Emissions

Japan based automobile manufacturer Honda Motor Co. (TYO: 7267) is asking suppliers of its main parts to annually reduce carbon emissions by 4%. The company which also produces power equipment made this plea on November 16 according to Nikkei.

Honda further says that it aiming to begin implementing 2025 fiscal year targets which is set to begin on April 2025. This moves comes barely months after fellow Japanese and world leading car manufacturer Toyota Motor Corp. (TYO: 7203) asked its suppliers to cut down carbon emissions.

Honda’s spokesperson pointed out that the company is working on achieving carbon neutrality including its suppliers whose it has requested to also reduce carbon emissions.

The spokesperson declined to confirm whether the company had directed its suppliers to reduce carbon emission by 4% annually versus 2019 as claimed by Nikkei.
