Skoda Auto Suspends Production for Two Weeks Citing Chip Shortage

Volkswagen AG (VOWG) owned auto manufacturer Skoda Auto announced that it will be suspending production activities for two weeks due to the global chip shortage which has been affecting the operations of car makers across the world.

The company says that during the two week production suspension period, it will be completing 10,000 unfinished vehicles. Only one production line will be left running during the two week period.

Skoda Auto has been struggling with a big shortage of critical components, which has forced it to limit production significantly in the past weeks,” said the company’s spokesperson, Tomas Kotera.

One week ago, the company expressed how the chip shortage had affected its activities further revealing that it would be significantly reducing of completely halting production starting from October 18 all through until the year wraps up citing shortage of semiconductors and other components.
