Instagram Testing an Outage or Technical Issues Notification Feature

Facebook Inc. (FB) owned social media application Instagram says that it’s testing a new feature which will be directly notifying users in case of an outage or technical issues with the application. This development comes barely a week after the company had major outage on its three social platforms which lasted for at least six hours.

According to a blog post from Instagram’s official site, the company will be conducting the test run in United States for a few months before rolling out the new feature to its users.

Earlier in the week, a web monitoring group Downdetector reported many users of Instagram were facing outage issues similar to that of last week which affected over 3.5 billion users of Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.

In addition Facebook says that it’s also working on a new feature which will assist in alerting users if their accounts are on the risk of being disbanded due to going against the company’s user policies.

In recent times, Facebook has been hugely criticized for prioritizing profits over cracking the whip on misinformation and hate speech across its various social platforms.
