Qualcomm Will be Supplying Chips for New Renault Electric Vehicle

Semiconductor manufacturer Qualcomm Technology Inc. (QCOM) announced that it will be supplying a key computing chip for the new electric vehicle of France based auto manufacturer Renault SA (EPA: RNO).

The chip will be a computing chip for the digital dashboard, Qualcomm has been expanding its operations in vehicle chips which can power dashboard and infotainment systems simultaneously.

According to Qualcomm, Renault’s Mégane E-TECH Electric will be using its chips to power the infotainment system of the vehicle all this will be made possible using software from Google which for the longest time now has been a partner with Qualcomm.

In the beginning of the year, Qualcomm announced a similar deal with United States based vehicle manufacturer General Motors Co. (GM).

Renault is expected to launch the Mégane E-TECH Electric this week during IAA Mobility 2021 automotive trade show which will be taking place in Munich.
