Australia based online retail company Woolworths Group Ltd (ASX: WOW) has entered into a partnership with online food ordering and delivering platform Uber Eats in same hour deliveries of groceries initiative.
This partnership is aimed at addressing the increase in demand of groceries, since the pandemic began, online orders of groceries has been increasing at an increasing rate due to restricted movements making online orders the most convenient method.
Woolworths says its locations will be available on the Uber Eats app starting from the last week of August for account holders in Sydney and Melbourne. Thereafter, the services will be rolled out across the eastern seaboard.
Uber Eats says it has been experiencing an increase in online orders all through the pandemic period. The company says when tough movement restrictions like complete lockdowns are put into place, the orders even rise further.
According to the partnership also, Uber Eats will become a delivery option for clients ordering through the Woolworths website.
