LG Display Investing $2.8 Billion in Light-Emitting Diode Plants

Manufacture of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display panels OLEDs and flexible displays LG Display Co Ltd. (KRX: 034220) is planning to invest $2.8 billion in small to mid-sized organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel manufacturing facilities.

According to a regulatory filing made by the South Korea based company, this investment is slated to take place starting this month all through to until March 2024.

The spokesperson of the display panel manufacture said the investment for sixth-generation OLED panels will be in South Korea further clarifying that that the plant will start production activities in 2024.

LG Display is widely known for its display panels among other consumer electronics, analysts in this sector believe that the company is in a strategic position to efficiently expand its OLED production facilities since it enjoys huge economies of scale due to its large scale production activities.
