YouTube Pulls Down President Bolsonaro’s Videos Cites COVID-19 Misinformation

Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) owned online video sharing platform YouTube has pulled down videos from Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s channel citing that the videos spread misinformation about COVID-19 outbreak.

During a press conference, YouTube said the videos were removed after careful reviews and without political considerations about President Bolsonaro or his political ideologies.

Brazil is on record as having experienced the world’s second deadliest outbreak of coronavirus, President Bolsonaro has been on the forefront rallying and protesting against lockdowns and other movement restricts put in place to curb spread of the killer virus.

President Bolsonaro has been caught on record castigating vaccines and doubting their potential. He has also shunned away wearing of masks and further supported touted unproven miracles cures.

Our rules do not allow content that states that hydroxychloroquine and/or ivermectin are effective in treating or preventing COVID-19, that states there is a cure for the disease, or says that masks do not work to prevent the spread of the virus,” said YouTube.
