China Unveils Maglev Train With a Top Speed of 600 kph

On July 20, China unveiled a maglev train which has a top speed of 600 kilometers per hour. This announcement was made by China’s state owned media. The train has been self-developed by China and manufactured in the coastal city of Qingdao

This launch means that this train is officially the fastest ground vehicle across the whole world.

The train will be using electro-magnetic force, the maglev train ‘levitates’ without any contact between the body and rail.

For almost 20 years now, China has been this technology but on a very limited scale. The country’s capital, Shanghai has a short maglev line running from one of the airport in the city to a town.

This train will be taking only two and half hours to travel from Beijing to Shanghai a distance of 1,000 km (620 miles) while travelling on its top speed.

Normally while using a plane, travelling from Beijing to Shanghai it takes approximately three hours and five and half hours using high speed rail.
