Netflix Hires Former Facebook Executive to Head its Video Games Unit

Production company and streaming service provider Netflix Inc. (NFLX) has hired a former executive of social network company Facebook Inc. (FB) to head its video game unit as the company is looking into ways of diversifying its services away from streaming and production.

Netflix announced having hired Mike Verdu who most recently was serving as the vice president of Facebook. Going forward, Verdu is now the vice president of game development in Netflix and he will be reporting directly to the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Greg Peters.

Verdu has immense experience when it comes to video game industry as he has worked leading video game developer Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), Kobam and Atari among other video game development companies.

While working at Electronics Arts, Verdu oversaw development of widely known video games like ‘Lords of the Rings’.

The company’s video game unit has been making entry in the industry by developing games based on great shows like ‘Stranger Things’ and Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) the unit recently launched an online store to sell merchandise related to its TV shows.
