General Motors Expands its Design Studio in China

United States auto manufacturer General Motors Co. (GM) says that it has expanded its studio design in China which will only be focusing on developing electric and connected cars. GM says that going forward the Chinese design studio will no longer design petrol vehicles.

Not long ago, the GM which is the largest vehicle manufacturer in the U.S, announced that it’s preparing to phase out production of petrol and diesel vehicles by the year 2035.

China is currently the world’s largest market for electric vehicles. Last month, General Motors said it wants to surpass annual sales of 1 million electric vehicles in China and U.S by 2025. To achieve this, the company will scale up its spending on development of electric and autonomous vehicles.

We have the right organizations and people to bring the most desirable products to China’s consumers,” said executive vice president and president of GM China, Julian Blissett.

The new advanced design studio was built by redesigning the initial studio on the same campus as GM’s China tech center in Shanghai.
