Tesla Recalls Vehicles in China Citing Online Software Update

Leading electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc. (TSLA) will be recalling almost 300,000 China made and imported Model Y and Model 3 cars in China for an online software update related to assisted driving.

This announcement was made by Chinese regulators who said that the car owners won’t be required to return their vehicles.

Through its official website, the State Administration for Market Regulation claimed that this recall is linked to an assisted driving function in electric cars which as things stand now, can be accidentally activated by drivers resulting to a sudden acceleration.

This remote online software recall will be the first one for Tesla cars produced in China and it covers 249,855 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles made in China and some additional 35,665 imported Model 3 cars.
