Microsoft Chief Executive Appointed Company’s Chairman

Giant technology company Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has named its chief executive office,r Satya Nadella, as the new chairman of the United States based company. He will be taking this position over from outgoing chairman, John Thompson.

Thompson has been serving as the chairman of Microsoft since 2014, the company says following his exit he will serve as lead independent director.

Naddella also ascended to the CEO position in 2014 taking over from Steve Ballmer. Since Nadella took over, he has been pushing for ramped up operations in the company additionally, the company has made several strategic acquisitions during his tenure.

This top-level managerial shake up comes barely over one year after the company’s founder Bill Gates stepped down from the company’s board citing that he took the move so as to give undivided attention to his philanthropic works of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is a private funded foundation which focuses on fighting poverty, disease and inequality across the world. The foundation goes down as among the largest charity organizations in the world.
