Byte Dance CEO Says He’s Adapting to Life Away From CEO’s Daily Work

The founder and former CEO of owner Chinese internet technology company ByteDance, Zhang Yiming, informed his fellow staff members that he is already adapting to life without the normal daily activities and responsibilities of a company’s chief executive.

Zhang made the revelation on June 17 after attending a staff meeting. Two individuals who were present in the meeting are the ones who made this revelation to media outlets.

Zhang stepped down from the chief executive position of the parent company of Chinese short video sharing app TikTok in May. He will be succeeded by Liang Rubo who will assume the CEO position at ByteDance in the end of the year.

At the time when the former CEO announced his step down, the news came as a shock to many since no one was expecting the move especially at a time when the company is performing well. In addition, the announcement came at a time when Chinese regulators are cracking the whip on Chinese technology companies.

Despite stepping down, Zhang still remains the chairman of the company, he says that he is currently engaging in studying organizational structures of other multinational companies and doing research on the education industry.
