PUBG Has Been Downloaded Over 1 Billion Times Since its Release in 2018

PUBG mobile, the mobile version of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has been downloaded over 1 billion times since it was launched back in 2018. This data was released by Tencent Holdings the parent company of the smartphone action game.

The game involves a group of players fighting each other until there is only one fighter left standing. In 2019, a new category of the game called ‘royale style’ was introduced and it has significantly increased popularity of the game.

Daniel Ahmad, a market analyst believes the mobile gaming industry is booming and any mobile game can achieve such feet as PUBG.

PUBG Mobile achieving 1 billion downloads shows that core games, in this case a AAA Battle Royale title based on the PC IP of the same name, can achieve the same scale in the mobile space,” said Ahmad.

Citing industry data, only two smartphone games have been downloaded more than PUBG. They include; Subway Surfers by Kiloo Games and Candy Crash Saga by King Digital Entertainment.
