Mercedes Benz Unveils Electric Compact SUV

Daimler AG (ETR) the parent company of leading automotive manufacturer Mercedes Benz has unveiled its own electric compact sport utility vehicle in efforts to compete with American electric car manufacturer Tesla Inc. (TSLA) which has been dominating electric car industry.

The electric SUV will be going by the name EQA and Mercedes will launch the car later in the month. Initially, Mercedes will launch an EQA model having a range of 426 kilometres (265 miles) and thereafter it will introduce another model with a 500 kilometer range.

According to the Europe based car manufacturer, the SUV will be available for sale across Europe starting from February 4.

Britta Seeger, a member in the board of management of Mercedes Benz and the supervisory board of Daimler Mobility AG said the electric SUV will be available for ‘very attractive price points’.

Seeger further described the new car as an urban entry model which has sustainability, versatility and fresh look.
