Walmart Partners With TikTok to Sell Items During a Livestream

Multinational retailer Walmart Inc. (WMT) announced having entered an agreement with Chinese short video sharing app Tiktok giving Walmart an opportunity to sell items during a livestream by creators featuring fashion merchandise from Walmart.

Currently TikTok records an average of 100 million United States users per month. These users will now be able to buy fashion items featured in TikTok by common creators without having to exit the platform.

The livestream is set to take place on December 18 on Walmart’s profile page on TikTok.

The livestream will feature national brands like Champion, Jordache, Kendall + Kylie and some private brands including Free Assembly, Scoop and Sofia Jeans,” said Walmart

Walmart will use this partnership to tap into younger people who access TikTok platform on a daily basis. The partnership will also help Walmart stand a better chance of competing with leading e-commerce giant Amazon Inc. (AMZN).

It gives us a new way to engage with users and reach potential new customers,” said the retailer’s U.S chief marketing officer William White.
