Twitter Suspends Accounts of Trump’s Black Supporters Says They Broke Rules

Social network Twitter Inc. (TWTR) has suspend several accounts belonging to black supporters of U.S President Donald Trump and his re-election bid in the upcoming presidential elections claiming the account owners broke its rules on manipulation and spam.

The accounts in question have been frequently posting pictures of individuals which do not match with their names further tagging the pictures with same messages like ‘YES IM BLACK AND IM VOTING FOR TRUMP!!!’

Our teams are working diligently to investigate this activity and will take action in line with the Twitter Rules if Tweets are found to be in violation,” said Twitter’s spokeswoman.

In the statement, Twitter declined disclosing the number of accounts it suspended linked to this saga. Some of the suspended accounts were using pictures of Black American people who have featured in news, others used images of President Trump as their header image.

Darren Linvill, a social media disinformation researcher says he has been tracking down these accounts and claims he found around 25 twitter accounts which jointly had 265,000 retweets or Twitter mentions.

He further revealed some of the accounts had fairly huge followings to the tune of tens of thousands of followers.

It doesn’t matter if Twitter’s shutting you down in four days, they’ve already had their impact,” added Linvill.
