Tesla Nearing Level Five Autonomous Driving Technology

Leading electrical vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc. (TSLA) is very close to achieving level five autonomous driving technology. The company’s founder and CEO Elon Musk made the sentiments giving reference to the ability of their cars being able to navigate roads without any assistance from a driver.

“I’m extremely confident that level 5 or essentially complete autonomy will happen and I think will happen very quickly,” said Musk.

He made the remarks while on a video call during the grand opening of Shanghai’s annual World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) further saying before the year wraps up, they will be through with the basic functionality for level 5 technology.

I remain confident that we will have the basic functionality for level 5 autonomy complete this year,” added Musk.

Several manufacturers of self-driving cars including Uber Technologies Inc. (UBER) and Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) owned Waymo have been investing heavily in the technology. Experts in the sector have said it will take some time before a fully trusted self-driving vehicle hits the market.

Musk further added Tesla is also in the process of developing new cooling systems and heat projection to enable more integrated computers in the cars.
