Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) is facing pressure from customers who experienced a service outage. Quite a significant number have launched complaints outlining that their calls couldn’t link to the landline.
A close outlook
These customers tried time and again only to keep receiving a notice informing them that the service was busy. It kept encouraging them to try again and again, but it was an exercise in futility.
This issue meant so many risks to the customers who complained that it would even paralyze operations in hospitals. This was because they would not be able to connect with the hospitals in cases of emergency.
This would not be the only segment affected by the outage is services. The customers also said that it would be almost impossible for them to get in touch with the police department. They urged the service provider to move with speed to resolve the matter.
The turn of events
The Frederick Police department, which operates from Maryland, was one of the first ones to get the information about the service outage. This department reported the matter to the company, who informed them that the issue was on a nationwide scale. When asked about when they would probably fix the problem, the company said it wouldn’t estimate that at the moment. This information sparked even worries among the users of the expansive service.
The news headlines also indicated that the issue had affected customers significantly. They indicated that there had been a dialing error at some point when customers made efforts to place calls. This was especially from their wireless networks to the various landline numbers.
Eventually, the company resolved the matter, and that was at 6:30 am ET. It apologized to all the affected customers outlining that it would ramp up efforts to ensure such a thing doesn’t happen again.
Reports indicate that a great deal of the issues reported were those to do with the cellphone services. They were closely followed by the landlines services and were causing major inconveniences and even losses.
The company has today confirmed the exact time when the outage of service peaked. It was at about 7:00 am.
